First Day Hike at Yellow River State Forest
Friends of Yellow River State Forest is sponsoring a “First Day” Hike at the Paint Creek Unit at 9 am on Monday, Jan 1.
The hike will be approximately three miles and will be of moderate difficulty. The hike will take most people 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
There will also be a photo opportunity with Bigfoot.
The hike will start at the cabin, walk through the sawmill area and up the Firetower Road to Cedar Point Road. From there we will circle around to Firetower Trail to the fire tower, head west to Brown’s Hollow Trail, and finish on the Forester Trail back to the cabin.
The guided hike will be led by YRSF Resource Technician Joe Vastine.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the hike.
Visitors are welcome to hike this route anytime on their own (it will be marked by Dec 30), but they must be present at 9 am on Jan 1 to be entered into the drawing for prizes
